Solar Panels Utah

Utah Food Services is currently in the process of installing solar panels at our North Salt Lake City location. We have just finished step 1 in the process which is installing a new roof that is optimized for solar panel placement. We are always excited to reinvest our resources into ourselves and our community, but here are a few questions that we asked ourselves first (for those of you in the process of deciding for yourselves)

Are solar panels worth it?

Solar panels have been deemed “worth it” by our team for both internal and external reasons. Besides doing private party, mobile and wedding catering, we are also Salt lake Cities largest convention caterer.  We use a lot of “juice”. Internally, we are able to avoid electricity purchases, and increase the property value of our salt lake city catering facility. And even more importantly, the external reasons include the reduction of our carbon footprint and aligning ourselves with our company’s core values.  Simply put – we are willing to do whatever we can as a Utah catering company to save our planet!

Why solar panels are good?

We like to think of solar panels as the vegetables of power. They’re good for you in the long run, but initially they can be difficult to swallow. They’re good for the environment, they’re a good investment in your property value and they look really good when you get your monthly power bill. The part that can be a deterrent for people can be the initial cost to have them installed.

Being a Utah based catering company, we were lucky to have government funded programs to help cover the cost of installation. Our fellow Utahns can check out this link for more information.
